Drought on the allotment – how to survive it

This year has been one of the driest I can remember. July was particularly dry and these conditions have only marginally improved during August with just a few days when it has rained.

Conditions like these are likely to become a common trend owing to climate change. Thus we should all become aware of how to garden in hot, dry conditions. This might mean choosing plants that are more tolerant of these conditions. We already have some advice about how and when to water plants to get the most from watering.
