Plastics Strategy

A new H&DAA Plastics Strategy has been published and can be viewed following this link. This strategy looks at the many ways in which plastics are used on our allotments. It lays out a 10-point plan to try to reduce the use of plastics on our sites because plastics can have harmful long-term affects on the environment. This will be an ongoing commitment by the H&DAA and it is fully endorsed by the H&DAA committee.

Our aim is to engage our H&DAA plotholders in thinking about how they use plastics. To this end we have produced some simple messages which are summarised in the Plastics Strategy Poster which will be put up around our sites and which will also be available  in flyer format for you to take. Click here to view.

We will put up links to suppliers who offer alternatives to using plastics – see our Plastic-free section on the Allotments Supplies pages.

We are also looking for Plastic Volunteers who are willing to become actively involved in  following up the points laid out within the strategy. If you are interested in helping with this work, please contact us via the Contacts Page and select “Plastics” from the bullet list.

H&DAA is grateful to all the hard work put in by Golden Hill plotholders Lucy & Ali Vilarkin who have produced this strategy.
