The growing season takes off!
After such a cold March and then a wet April, May has finally brought sunshine. Everything in the allotment has started to shoot up, especially the weeds! If you managed to get your seeds sown or plants planted in late April / early May you will have benefited form the warm weather which has been with us for a number of consecutive days.
However, the downside of the sunshine has been that cracks have started opening up in the soil and the ground has become increasingly hard to work.
