Winter Gales bring down tree at Golden Hill

Storm Arwen hit Bristol this weekend and one of the casualties was an old elm tree on the edge of the Golden Hill allotment site. As the photo shows, the wind blew this tree over so that it fell onto the Horfield Prison wall. Fortunately the wall prevented the tree from hitting the  ground, so no-one was hurt and the lane between the prison and the allotment site was not obstructed.

Although this tree was in the hedge adjacent to the allotment boundary, it was not on allotment land, so is not the responsibility of H&DAA. It is hoped that the Council or the Prison authorities will swiftly dispose of the fallen tree.
