Badger blitz on Golden HIll

For the second year in a row plots in Golden Hill have had severe damage to sweetcorn plants. Many sweetcorn plants have been knocked flat to the ground and the cobs exposed and eaten, crossways. As can be seen from the images the cobs are well and truly destroyed.

Sweetcorn damage on Golden HillThis damage can only be caused by a badger. No visual sightings have been made of the badger and there is no sett known on the site.

Unfortunately there is not much that can be done to prevent a badger from attacking and destroying a sweetcorn plant short of a fence with strong wooden stakes around the sweetcorn patch. Even that may not be sufficient to prevent the badgers getting in as they have been known to burrow underneath physical barriers at other locations.

Good luck!!
