Donations of surplus food requested - Horfield and District Allotments

The Golden Hill Community Garden are collecting any surplus fruit and vegetables to be donated and will take them to Family Food Action at the Ardagh for their food bank every Tuesday morning. Family Food Action work with local partners so it will mostly to the adventure playgrounds in St Pauls, Easton and Lockleaze to be cooked into free hot meals for the children.

There is a table set up down by the gate on the lane behind the prison (between Monk Road and Longmead Avenue) where you can leave donations.

Please leave only good quality stuff and nice clean vegetables and fruit. If you’re leaving it at the weekend please make sure it’ll likely still be good by the following Tuesday.

There are trays there for you to pop stuff in but please bag things up and weather proof your bits if they need it. Please free feel to wash muddy vegetables at our sink but please use the red washing up bowl and then pour the water on the ground.

Any fruit and vegetables that are excess to your needs will be welcomed and will go to a good home.
